Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes millions of youth to improve their communities each year through service. Celebrated in over 100 countries, GYSD is the largest service event in the world.  This year Global Youth Service Day is being celebrated April 17 – 19.

  1. Design and register a service project. Take a look around your school, neighborhood or community. Is there something or someone that could use help? Check out the project toolbox for ideas, resources and register your project
  2. Participate in the Signature Service Project. Help Habitat for Humanity with a special art project or assist the Martin Drive Neighborhood Association with a community cleanup as part of the GYSD Signature Service Project at the Washington Park Senior Center on Saturday, April 18 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  3. Attend the GYSD Signature Celebration and Resource Fair. Celebrate the collective impact Milwaukee youth have made by participating in the GYSD Signature Celebration. All GYSD participants are invited to share their GYSD stories and enjoy music, dancing, food, and a teen resource fair.
  4. Spread the word. Service is more fun when done with friends. Encourage your friends to help you plan a project, attend the Signature Service Project and Celebration, or register a project of their own.
  5. Share your GYSD experience. Service is fun – take pictures to prove it and share them on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. #gysdmke
