In Milwaukee, our boys and men of color face significant challenges that require specific, purposeful focus. The Boys & Men of Color portfolio will expand United Way’s partnership with community-based organizations, youth and adult residents, law enforcement, education, health system leaders, and faith-based advocates to collectively address facing males of color in our community.
United Way’s Boys & Men of Color portfolio will support a variety of service providers to incorporate equitable strategies specific to males of color in the community. The ultimate goal of this work will be systems change, rather than quick-fixes or band-aid solutions.
Given the magnitude of services funded by United Way, the Boys & Men of Color portfolio will focus on developing strategy for one particular service area at a time. Currently, options are being weighed to determine what these service areas will be and the best way to move forward.
