United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County has a stake in creating a healthy, prosperous community. Join team Nourish MKE in raising funds for United Way’s health fund to help improve the quality of life for all by providing one of the basic needs – food.
On Thursday, May 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Potbelly Sandwich Shop at Bayshore Town Center, please join us to support the community and take care of your health by ordering a nutritious and delicious meal. 40% of your purchase during the event will go towards United Way’s health fund to help fund organizations like IMPACT and Fondy Food Center.
“People seeking emergency food, including pantries and meal sites, account for nearly a third of all requests to our 2-1-1 crisis hotline. We provide the right resource, the first time, helping individuals and families regain stability in their lives. With nearly 60 years of experience providing access to community services, IMPACT relies heavily on United Way to ensure that no one goes hungry and no one feels ashamed to reach out for help,” said John Hyatt, President & CEO of IMPACT.
“The Fondy Food Center connects neighborhoods to fresh, local food – from farm to market to table – through its farmers markets, farm project, and city-wide healthy food access initiative. Fondy's cornerstone food security efforts center around the Fondy Farmers Market - a century old market that serves Milwaukee's Northside. In 2016, more than $120,000 in federal nutrition benefits (SNAP, WIC, etc) and matching incentives that double the amount of fruits and vegetables purchased, were spent at the market - making Fondy a local, statewide, and national leader in connecting low income families to fresh farmers market produce.”
Help us address the complexity of immediate basic needs while enjoying a meal at Potbelly. When families have good health, we all win!
