If you had to guess, what would you think a retired Army Police Officer living in Waukesha County does with his time? Why, volunteering in public schools working with students on robotics, of course!
Rudy Willis is a retiree volunteer with Waukesha Public Schools through Interfaith’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program, also known as RSVP. In his role as volunteer, Rudy meets with middle- and high-school students to read, give them historical context for what they are working on, and learn coding and programing with the Arduino board gifted to him by his daughter.
We sat down with Rudy to hear how he got involved in volunteering with Interfaith RSVP, what some of the benefits to volunteering are, and why you should stop what you are doing and go volunteer right away. Rudy also shares some funny stories about Arduino robotics projects he has worked on with students.
