2017 Community Conversations

Last year, United Way conducted a series of conversations with community members in order to understand what kind of community they want, the issues important to them, their ideas for moving foward, and who they trust to take action. Common themes emerged, and United Way shared how Community Conversations have already impacted the community.

Check out the 2017 Community Conversations report.

Helping Kids Succeed

One great success that came out of a series of Community Conversations was an update in the Helping Kids Succeed initiative strategy. Helping Kids Succeed began in 2005 as an effort to help reduce risky behaviors that were causing barriers to kids' success. This year, the initiative was expanded with input from the community. Melissa Yow of the School District of Waukesha joined us to give an update on the new direction of this intiative.

Partnership MKE

Partnership MKE is a new initiative that aims to break down barriers and destroy bias by pairing individual community leaders across lines of difference. Through a focus on cohesion, inclusion, and overcoming divisions, Partnership MKE aims to build social capital and spur critical conversations about bias among our community’s leadership.
