Your United Way

August 2016

The recent violence in Milwaukee over the past weekend has been heavy on our hearts. Please know United Way is continuing to work with our program partners and city officials to find ways we can work together to reduce racial tensions in our city.

Over the last year, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County hosted 50 Community Conversations (and counting) to listen and act on what has been one of the top priority topics in every forum: safety for children, families, and elderly.

We also have partnered with Precious Lives for a two year, 100-part radio podcast series about young people and gun violence in Milwaukee. This fall, we will present 20 live shows around our community to share the impact of violence on our local families.

Today, we ask you to join us in our fight for the education, income, and health of every person in our four-county region. Help us Live United Against Violence.

Drivers of Diversity

On October 15, United Way’s Diversity Leadership Society is collaborating with ONE MKE for the Driver of Diversity Awards. The event, graciously sponsored by Johnson Controls, will highlight individuals and corporations in Greater Milwaukee who have made it their mission to drive diversity and positively impact our community. ONE MKE member John Daniels shares why this event is so important. Read John’s blog.
