New Parent Kit Project

New Parent Kit Project

Engage your team in a fun and meaningful volunteer project from wherever you are! The New Parent Kit Project brings volunteers together to pack diaper bags filled with new parent essentials like diapers and wipes.

Full Service Opportunity

United Way manages all logistics from start to finish including the ordering, shipping and set-up of all needed supplies. This also includes coordinating an agency speaker and managing delivery of all packed kits. United Way is on site at the event to welcome the group, help manage the project and assist with clean-up.

Cost: $25/kit (Minimum 50 kits)

The Impact

Becoming a new parent is a struggle in and of itself. The additional financial burden that comes with an infant is tough for anyone, but even more so for individuals living in financial insecurity. Each diaper bag goes to a new parent from one of our family-serving funded agencies or LIHF Collaborative member organizations. Bags include essential items such as diapers, wipes, a bottle, and helpful resources.

This project impacts the following in our community:

  • African American women and their families supported by Lifecourse Initiative for Health Families (LIHF)
  • New parents residing in or receiving services from local emergency shelters
  • New parents participating in one of the Healthy Birth Outcomes funded programs who may face financial insecurity, mental health issues, substance abuse problems or a combination.
