The Vello Experience

Want to volunteer but don’t have the time? Vello is a virtual tutoring opportunity perfect for busy people! Vello volunteer Patrice Burrell shares her experience reading with students using this innovative computer program. “Nothing makes me smile more than having a student go from wondering when the session will be over to asking if we can read another book,” shares Patrice. Reserve Space in the Johnson Controls Volunteer Center!

In August 2018, the Johnson Controls Volunteer Center opened in the ground floor of United Way’s current Schlitz Park location.

In addition to United Way-hosted volunteer experiences, the meeting space is available for outside groups to reserve, or for one-on-one meetings in the Live United lounge and coffee bar.

Mary Lou’s Closet: Toothbrushes & Toothpaste Drive
February - March 2019

Donate new toothbrushes and toothpaste for kids at Milwaukee Community Schools! Mary Lou’s Closet is an ongoing donation supply drive celebrating former United Way CEO Mary Lou Young and her passion for serving local youth. Donations can be dropped off at United Way’s Johnson Controls Volunteer Center. Learn more.

Help Make the New Waukesha Overflow Shelter Feel like Home
Ongoing
United Way and the Housing Action Coalition are pleased to announce the opening of the new overflow shelter for women and families in Waukesha. This shelter will provide additional emergency beds for people unable to be accommodated by the community's other shelters when they are at capacity.
Help us make this shelter feel like home by signing up to make dinner for guests or purchasing items from the Amazon wish list.

Show Some Love for Zablocki Community School
