United Way News: July 2018

Our Community’s Future is Bright

Each year, we are proud to recognize five outstanding community leaders in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who give, advocate, and volunteer for a stronger community through the Philanthropic 5 Awards. We also recognize one exceptional leader under 18 as our Philanthropic Youth.

This year’s winners have done some amazing things: encouraging diverse youth to explore careers in conservation, helping first responders prepare for their families’ future, encouraging new talent to make Milwaukee their forever home, and so much more.

Get to know the 2018 winners and register to join us at the Philanthropic 5 Awards event, Thursday, August 16 at The Ivy House, a new event space in Milwaukee.

Thank you to BMO Harris Bank, the longtime sponsor of the Philanthropic 5 Awards.

Make Back-to-School Season Special for Every Student!

United Way’s Backpack Coalition is committed to ensuring every student in our region goes back to school with the supplies they need to succeed. Last year, we provided over 4,900 backpacks stuffed with supplies to local students... help us do it again this year!

“Fill the Bus” is our Backpack Coalition's largest supply drive of the year. Head to your local Wal-Mart store to pick up a few extra school supplies and help us fill backpacks for our community's students! Volunteers are also needed to help out at this fun annual event.

Learn more or host your own supply drive.
