P5 Nominations Open

Nominate a local hero today! Each year the Emerging Leaders honor the Philanthropic 5 and one Philanthropic Youth for giving, volunteering, and advocating for change in Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

IT United Tech Career Fair

   
At IT United’s annual Tech Career Fair, 80 teens from Pearls for Teen Girls and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee learned about IT careers. Fifty IT professionals volunteered on April 11 to present on their jobs and career paths. Check out the photos on Facebook.

Women United Updates

The Women United Global Leadership Council met in Houston in March to develop its strategy for 2018 to 2020. Christine Liu McLaughlin, who serves on the Global Council as well as our local Women’s Leadership Council, shared updates on our blog.

In Teen Pregnancy Prevention news, LaRoyce F. Chambers, MD, retired department chief and chair of obstetrics and gynecology for Aurora Health Care, will serve as the co-chair of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Oversight Committee (TPPOC) along with Betsy Brenner. Learn more about Dr. Chambers.
   


Meet the Project LEAD Class

   
Project LEAD’s Spring 2018 class met for the first time April 18. The new class is preparing for roles on nonprofit boards and committees by learning about governance, fundraising, financial management, and other critical topics.

Day of Service
Retire United will host its annual Day of Service on July 30. Retirees and soon-to-be retirees are invited to roll up their sleeves to sort and pack school supplies for kids in need through the Backpack Coalition. See below for more information about the program.

Backpack Coalition
Backpack Coalition, which has been led by United Way since 2014, provides backpacks and school supplies to students with financial constraints, helping ensure they succeed in school. This year the program will distribute approximately 5,000 backpacks with school supplies to students in grades K-12. You can support this initiative by donating, volunteering, or hosting a supply drive this summer. Learn more.
