Introducing Technology United!

It’s official: IT United, the United Way donor network of technology professionals making a difference in our community through giving, volunteerism, and advocacy, will now be known as Technology United.

John Dunn of GE Healthcare, a Technology United co-chair, explains the name change and how the network’s broadened focus will result in greater impact around their passion: exposing local students to careers in technology.

Another February blog highlighted United Way’s response to extreme winter weather and other urgent needs. Read it here.

The Next Generation

Jobs in the technology field are growing, but as these jobs continue to grow, the workforce skilled enough to take these jobs are decreasing. The same can be said for trade jobs.

So how do we build a workforce that is ready to take on these positions? What can we do today to support our next generation?

We discuss this and more in our February edition of Living Local, a United Way podcast brought to you by HSA Bank. Click here to listen.

Appreciating Teachers

On January 21, United Way volunteers celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by packing teacher appreciation kits, writing notes of encouragement, and decorating banners with words of gratitude and support. Kits were distributed to schools in Milwaukee and Waukesha County. Thank you to ManpowerGroup for sponsoring this event.

Survey Says...

We want you to be part of the conversation.

In February we asked: How does technology help you give back to your community?

Our Favorite February response: Technology helps me learn about events in my community and further share that information with my neighbors. I also share on social media when there are opportunities to volunteer, and when I am doing volunteering so people ask questions about the event or my actions so I can share my enthusiasm for helping. Technology also allows me to work from remote places. - Meg
