Volunteer with LINC!

Join LINC, United Way's young professionals network, on Thursday, August 15!

Volunteers will engage adults with developmental disabilities from the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center at the Thiensville stop of the Traveling Food Truck festival. This Jewish Community Center program has been wanting to attend this food truck event, but have been lacking volunteer support. Help make it happen!

Retire United

Backpack Packing Event

We invite you to join Retire United for their sixth annual Day of Service volunteer opportunity on Tuesday, July 30 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Johnson Controls Volunteer Center.

Back by popular demand, volunteers will pack backpacks and sort school supplies in support of the Backpack Coalition. The Backpack Coalition provides backpacks and school supplies to students in need across Milwaukee and Waukesha County.

In 2018, Retire United had 66 volunteers who packed almost 700 backpacks. This year our goal is 1,000, and we'll need more volunteers to do that! Consider bringing a friend or two. Register here.

Women United

Supply the Cycle – Update

Thank you for all those that contributed to Supply the Cycle, Women United’s call to action for menstrual products for local students at our Community Schools.

To date, we’ve collected over 40,000 menstrual products and on July 16, over 60 volunteers assembled 1,000 Period Packs.


Making an Impact Locally and Globally

United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County hosted the inaugural Women United and Emerging Leaders Midwest Regional Convening on Wednesday, June 19. Participants included staff and volunteers from United Ways located in Detroit, Des Moines, Chicago, Racine, Madison, Indianapolis, Memphis and Omaha. Representatives from United Way Worldwide started the day by sharing key trends in women’s engagement and young adult engagement. The Regional Convening afforded United Way staff and volunteers the opportunity to share best practices and learn from other area United Ways. Our local United Way is so proud to continue to have the largest Women United network in the world! Thank you to our incredibly generous contributors.

Thank you to our very own Gail Lione, who served as chair of the Women United Global Leadership Council for the last two years, and officially passed the gavel on Friday, June 19, during her final Council meeting, which was hosted by United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. Gail has been involved in United Way’s Women United chapter since its inception, in 2002, and has played a significant role in the network ever since. Thank you, Gail, for your incredible leadership!
