Kyle is a volunteer reader at United Way-funded Read with Me Program at Next Door. The program helps children ages 2 to 5 build comprehension and pre-reading skills.
This program gets the children excited about reading,” Kyle explains. “The earlier kids are exposed to books and reading, the more likely they will be to develop better language and comprehension skills.”
About 450 students come to the library three days a week to be read to by the volunteer readers. “I often have specific children ask for me to be their reader. I love repeat customers!” Kyle says.
Research proves that caring volunteers working with students of all ages have the power to help kids boost academic achievement and put young people on track for a bright future.
You could be the difference. Volunteer today!
