HGA Architects & Engineers is an integrated architecture, engineering and planning firm located in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. HGA launched a new Community Action Initiative which held a Day of Service on August 21 in partnership with United Way and The Cathedral Center.

32 employees participated in the Day of Service which was part of United Way’s Season of Caring. Volunteers were split into two shifts – morning and afternoon – and performed a variety of tasks including gardening, painting, cleaning, sorting donations and making lunches. Here is what some of the employees had to say about their experience:

The experience volunteering for United Way was a fun bonding experience with my coworkers and we helped out a local organization at the same time!
– Angie, Milwaukee

We accomplished so much in just a few hours! It was a fun day, with benefits for team building as well as doing good work in our community. And we came away with new respect for the wonderful work being done at the Cathedral Center.
– Jane, Cedarburg

Our group had a great and rewarding time working at the Cathedral Center. The director helped us understand the impact of our help, and wisely designated team leaders who created a fun competition to work better and faster – just what we needed. It was great to see the adage in action: many hands make light work.
– Paula, Pewaukee

It was a nice opportunity to help a worthy organization in many ways. It was humbling to see the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff and their commitment to the organization and their mission.
– Mike, Caledonia

Our Day of Service at the Cathedral Center was a wonderful opportunity to work with an organization that provides a critical service to our community. Together as a team, we accomplished a great deal and very much enjoyed the experience.
– Lyssa, Whitefish Bay

I really enjoyed working with United Way and the Cathedral Center. We were able to accomplish much more than even we expected, and all the work went to a wonderful organization!
– Kailey, New Berlin

Cathedral Center is an amazing organization with a dedicated staff and volunteer force. It was such a pleasure to help them make the center feel like home for their clients!
– Rachel, Butler
