U.S. Bank employees volunteering at Interfaith Older Adult Programs during Season of Caring.

“I am humbled each and every day by what volunteers in our community do for our agency.” Eddy Magnus is thankful for the partnership Interfaith Older Adult Programs has with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. Interfaith Older Adult Programs, a United Way program partner, helps support seniors in Milwaukee County so they can continue to live “at home” rather than “in a home.”  During United Way’s Season of Caring, that help is especially abundant from volunteers assisting seniors in a variety of everyday tasks. 

Volunteers across our four-county region take care of yard work, paint houses, repair appliances throughout clients’ homes and drive them to and from appointments. Eddy says volunteering to drive is especially important because it allows seniors to do their grocery shopping and get to doctor appointments and still feel independent. 

Eddy says choosing to volunteer with Interfaith will be much more than just handling tasks, it’s about meeting clients, learning their stories, and building a relationship. She fondly recalls one relationship between a volunteer and a client who bonded over mealtime visits. Even after the volunteer graduated from college, their connection continued and they still enjoy dinners together today.
