Under the new leadership of Executive Director, Danae Davis, United Way is proud to be a partner for Milwaukee Succeeds and our Emerging Leaders are excited about stepping up to rally around this new collaboration as their flagship initiative.

Do you want to learn more & get involved? Join us next Tuesday, May 12 for a CEO Panel discussion on Milwaukee Succeeds moderated by John Kordsmeier, President of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation.  Other panelists include Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Darienne Driver, Tim Coughlin of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, and Milwaukee Succeeds Co-Chair Mike Lovell.

Milwaukee Succeeds is a broad-based, long-term partnership of parents, educators, businesses, philanthropy, the faith community, nonprofits and other community stakeholders who have joined together to focus on improving educational outcomes for Milwaukee’s children and young adults. Milwaukee Succeeds aims to achieve gains in four areas:

  • Goal 1 – School Readiness: Preparing all children to enter school;
  • Goal 2 – Elementary School: Ensuring that all children succeed academically and graduate prepared for meaningful work and/or college;
  • Goal 3 – High School: Increasing the number of young people who pursue postsecondary education or training to advance their opportunities beyond a high-school diploma and prepare for a successful career; and
  • Goal 4 – Social and Emotional Health: Recognizing the difficult economic realities facing Milwaukee families, ensuring that all children and young people are healthy, supported socially and emotionally, and contribute to the success of the Milwaukee community.

Milwaukee Succeeds’ approach is data-driven. For example, to ensure that the program is moving the needle for Goal 1, Milwaukee Succeeds will track whether vaccination rates for Milwaukee children are increasing, and will look for improvements in the number of children enrolled in high-quality child care programs and the PALS exam’s benchmarks for kindergarten readiness.

The CEO Panel, hosted by United Way’s Emerging Leaders, provides not only a terrific opportunity to learn about the work United Way is doing, but also an opportunity to network with business professionals throughout Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

We hope you’re able to join us!
