“We feel everyone deserves a comfortable night’s sleep,” says Chris Nolte, president and CEO of Verlo Mattress. That’s why our company contributed to United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County’s 2015 Campaign and Season of Caring by doing what we do best – building mattresses.

All 44 of our Verlo employees participated in the manufacturing process. The Verlo team donated 84 hours to build 12 mattress sets, which we were happy to donate to Community Advocate’s Autumn West Safe Haven. This United Way-funded agency provides housing and services to people who are homeless and facing mental illness. The total value of our donation exceeded $6,000.

Afterwards, our employees reflected on how they had built much more than just mattresses. They felt helped to build dignity and hope for the people who will be sleeping on them. They also loved it allowed our team to build upon the pride and camaraderie within our company.

“As a company, it was our opportunity to use our expertise and help an important cause,” offers Nolte, who also lent a hand in the mattress building.

“It was very rewarding to see our teams working together to make a difference in our community,” explains David Marcus of Marcus Investments. “Team building with a purpose – you can’t beat it!”
