On February 6 the four basketball aficionados of our Milwaukee office represented Gardner Denver in United Way’s “Milwaukee Bucks Free Throw Challenge” and we had a lot of fun!

In order to be part of this challenge our company had to raise at least $10,000 for United Way’s 2014 community campaign.

Garden Denver was one out of 17 teams who competed in the challenge for a chance to win a trophy and a year of bragging rights.

Contest Rules included:

  • Each team is required to have 2 women and 2 men
  • Each team has 60 seconds to make as many free throws as possible
  • 1 basketball per team will be provided and your team is required to rebound your own ball
  • The two teams that make it to the finals will compete during half time of a Bucks game in March

The Gardner Denver Dream Team: Heather Warnecke, David Wankowski, Stefanie Roedenbeck, and last but not least, our superstar Air Skogg.

Other companies we competed against included Rockwell Automation, Eaton, Campbell’s Soup, The Marcus Corporation, BMO Harris Bank and Manpower Group.

The two winning teams of the free throw challenge will be in front of 18,000+ Milwaukee Bucks fans. Talk about pressure. To cut the suspense short, Gardner Denver did not make it to the finals.

The winners were BMO Harris Bank and The Marcus Corporation. But we did get really close and most importantly had a lot of fun!  Next year, though, I have a feeling we will make it to the finals.
