United Way and our program partners have TONS of opportunities for you to give back during your summer vacation. Grab a friend and sign up for one of the following fun projects:
Emerging Leaders Day of Action United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County
Bring the whole family to Lincoln Avenue Elementary for a fun afternoon of outdoor beautification projects and packing parent engagement kits for local families. June 21, 2017.
Fill the Bus Event Volunteer United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County
Help United Way fill a yellow school bus with donated school supplies at one of 12 locations throughout Waukesha County and Milwaukee. After supply collection, we will ride the bus to our warehouse to unload. July 29, 2017. Family friendly.
Peer Counselor (Teen Opportunity) Walker's Point Youth & Family Center, Milwaukee
Become a role model and mentor for youth and teens residing at Walker’s Point YFC emergency youth shelter. Peer counselors assist with the recreational and counseling needs, provide a link between residents and staff, participate in group session activities, and promote good relationships all while having fun. Must be 14 years of age or older and a high school student.
Field Trip Companion The Caring Place, Waukesha
Be a companion on field trips to a local park for a picnic or to the zoo, Milwaukee Public Museum, Waukesha Historical Society (closed to the public but we get to tour) and many more fun trips. If you can push a wheelchair and have conversation with interesting seniors, you’re guaranteed to have fun. Must be 16 years of age or older.
Help an Older Adult with Outdoor Chores Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Milwaukee
Help older adults who live in their own homes with yard chores in the spring, summer, and fall. An effort is made to match a volunteer with a client who lives close by. Must be 14 years of age or older.
Community Garden Help Boy Scouts of America, Waukesha
Help with weeding, harvesting, and building an expanded additional garden area. The need is overwhelming for our local food pantries and churches. Very flexible schedule.
Summer Camp Assistant St. Joseph Academy, Milwaukee
Read, create art, play games, or take walks with children! The summer camp program runs from June 5 through August 31. Hours can be mornings or afternoons; once a week commitment. Must be 16 years of age or older.
