The United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County is fortunate to have volunteers who care deeply about their community, giving effortlessly and tirelessly of their time to make a positive impact.

This month our volunteer spotlight is on Brad Wells, Vice President, Market Credit Administrator for U.S. Bank. Brad has served as a volunteer for United Way in various roles, including serving on the Impact Committee, taking part in Season of Caring projects, and as an ambassador for U.S. Bank.

How did you get involved with coordinating Season of Caring projects for your employer?

As United Way Ambassador for U.S. Bank, I was looking for an opportunity to engage employees in a way that would be meaningful and would allow them to see the impact the United Way makes on the community. We brought a volunteer project onsite – making sandwiches for local homeless shelters. The event was very well-received.

What have you learned by volunteering for the United Way?

It has opened my eyes to how blessed many of us are. There are so many people who have hit hard times and need help. The United Way supports organizations that are providing services our community desperately needs.

What has surprised you most about United Way?

I’ve been surprised by how United Way does business. They don’t just hand out money to organizations; they hold them accountable by requiring them to demonstrate the impact they have on the community.

What inspires you to keep volunteering?

I enjoy giving back, especially in the community where I live. I want to set a good example for my kids and employees, and show them that the small things individuals do can make a difference.
