Gay/Straight Alliance for Safe Schools
Mission
GSAFE creates just schools for LGBTQ+ youth in Wisconsin. We do this by developing the leadership of LGBTQ+ youth, supporting gay-straight alliances, training educators, advancing educational justice, and deepening racial, gender, trans, and social justice.
Aligned Work
GSAFE is committed to building capacity for organizations and groups serving LGBTQ+ youth. They strengthen the nonprofit landscape across Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties by serving as a primary incubator and infrastructure partner. Their approach utilizes a "backbone" model providing a centralized hub of professional expertise, ensuring that vital community work—particularly that which is led by and for LGBTQ+ youth—is sustainable and effective.
