Mission
Dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Aligned Work
YWCA SEW focuses on adult education by providing HSED and GED support and credentialing opportunities. Adult education classes are offered free of charge, increasing accessibility with one-on-one tutoring. Participants enrolled in the GED pathway receive virtual, classroom-style instruction that prepares them for GED, while HSED candidates’ complete coursework to earn credentials. A four-week Personal Financial Management unit is woven into instruction while students also can meet requirements and receive the National Career Readiness Certification. (Reducing Barriers to Employment & Advancement)
YWCA digital literacy is embedded in HSED and GED instruction as well as offered as a separate learning opportunity. YWCA is working collaboratively with other education partners to offer digital literacy classes, drop-in sessions, and one on one support, in English and Spanish both online and virtually. YWCA works with collocated hub tenants to host collaborative digital literacy focused events and device distribution. (Techquity)
