Mental Health Improvement Fund
According to the Wisconsin Office of Children’s Mental Health, the majority of Wisconsin children with a mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, or behavioral problems had difficulty getting the necessary treatment for their condition.
And roughly one-quarter million adults in Wisconsin have serious mental illnesses. As they age, they face limited access to specialized care, including in-patient services (Wisconsin Department of Health Services).
Good mental health is more than just the absence of mental illness. Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn and work well, and contribute to their community.
Every child and adult deserves an equal opportunity to thrive. That includes having access to high-quality mental health care close to home.
The Milwaukee Health Care Partnership and United Way partner together to provide realistic and affordable ways for all our community members to have strong mental health through the Mental Health Improvement Fund. This fund supports local organizations that help people along the full journey of getting mental health care – and more – despite their ability to pay.
What does a gift to the Mental Health Improvement Fund do?
- It helps people get started on their path to finding care through care coordination and outreach.
- It helps families get connected to important mental health care resources in their community.
- It helps connect people most in need with affordable mental health service.
- It helps people get important mental health medications.
