“‘I believe in you’ is not something I’ve heard before. So to have someone who didn’t know me say, ‘I believe in you,’ well, if they can believe in me, then why can't I?”

When Savannah completed treatment for addiction, she was left with nowhere to go.

“Hebron House was one of the resources recommended to me,” said Savannah. “And it was a godsend.”

Savannah first lived at Juno House, a temporary home for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. She quickly moved into transitional housing, then into her own apartment – all with the support of United Way-funded Hebron Housing Services.

“People don’t understand that having a place to stay, a roof over your head, is such a huge part of recovery,” said Savannah.

Kathleen Fisher, CEO of Hebron Housing Services, knows that the work they do every day is possible because of the power of United Way.

“Without United Way’s support, we wouldn’t have access to resources for system navigation, we wouldn’t have access to resources for Coordinated Entry, we wouldn’t have resources for our support for rental assistance. United Way makes a big difference in our community and we’re so grateful for their support.”

Savannah added: “I’m really proud that I took a lot of negative experiences over the past years and I turned them into good. Now I can help others.”
