United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County
Shelter beds fill up quickly, especially during cold weather. In early 2019, the Waukesha Housing Action Coalition and United Way opened a winter overflow shelter for women and families from Waukesha County. Between March and April 2019, a total of 38 adults and children were housed in the shelter. The shelter will re-open on December 1, 2019. United Way partner agency Community Advocates will again operate the shelter, providing guests with a safe and secure place to stay, as well as support and case management.
